The former executives of Cisco have launched a new wireless network system called Mist, which can track users’ locations and suggest the applications they might need. All-in-oneMist is a new kind of wireless network system where wireless networking, location services and machine learning come together. Mist tracks users’ locations and automatically suggests them the applications that may come in handy. It is the first intelligent wireless network that can connect to any surrouding network and suggests useful applications to users, based on the location they are in, via a technology called virtual Bluetooth Low Energy (vBLE).

For example, if a user is using Mist in a shopping mall, he/she can easily find a way to the nearest cafe or restroom, without having to search around the mall. Mist is also equipped with Intelligent Wireless Cloud (IWC) which delivers scalable solutions through machine learning, data science and the latest cloud technologies in order to imrpove the wireless experience for both the users and IT administrators.

A major inspiration for creating Mist was Sujai Hajela’s (Mist’s CEO) 16-year-old daughter, who told her father that there was the need for a simple tool to provide users with more information about the locations they were in. This feature became the key element in the development of Mist.

Nowadays, Mist is a successful startup with more than 32 employees and its system is used at conference centres, hotels, museums, shopping malls, etc.
