CarFi, a mobile hotspot made specifically for cars designed by Huawei, might be the only accessory you need in your car.

A cigarette lighter for your car is now more than just a lighter. Huawei introduced a gadget called CarFi that transforms cars into Wi-Fi hotspots. Without needing a battery, CarFi works as a standard charger and provides 5V/1A power for plugged-in mobile devices.

According to Huawei representatives, the aesthetic of the gadget is inspired by the elegant lines of a golf club. Huawei CarFi is made of premium materials, such as wood and carbon fiber and is available in three colors including black, red, and brown. The gadget supports LTE Cat4 /HSPA+/HSPA/GSM/GPRS/EDGE and thanks to its wireless (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) CarFi, it can provide Internet to 10 Wi-Fi devices at a time. Moreover, The device has a download speed of 150 Mbit/s and upload speed of 50 Mbit/s and has an LCD display of 1.45. CarFi is also very easy to use, all you have to do to activate CarFi is to insert a sim card with a data plan in it, and its price varies from $100 – $130.

CarFi turns off automatically when Wi-Fi devices are not connected to it, but if you want to turn it on or off manually, it can be done by simply pressing on the power button located on the head of the device. Additionally, the device can be controlled remotely,via Android and iOS smartphones, using the Huawei Hilink mobile Wi-Fi app. While using the app, the user is able to see CarFi’s connection quality, deposit money to the sim’s monthly data plan and send and receive SMS messages.
